Tim Holt begins his first season as a teaching professional at the New Bobicks having spent the last 13 years in the Tampa, Florida area. Tim’s last stint was as GM and head golf professional at Hidden Creek GC, where he over saw the entire golf operation, including all instruction. Tim helped develop the junior golf programs, which featured over 100 kids each summer. He also started an annual Parent-Child tournament, which averaged 80 teams and was considered a premier event in the Tampa area.
A Class A member of the PGA since 1992, Time helped create the “Swing into School” program to introduce the game of golf to middle and high school aged kids. For his work with junior golfers he was recognized by the West Central PGA chapter as their junior golf leader in 2000. Tim coached Division II St. Leo University mens golf team in 2003-2004. He also helped with various high school programs during his time in Florida. Tim played professionally from 1991-1993, winning tournaments on the Hooters and various mini-tours.
A 1987 graduate of McNeese St. University with a BA in Business Administration, he was honorable mention All-American in 1985. He worked as an assistant professinal at several courses in Indiana before moving to Florida. Tim won the State Assistants championship in 1990, and served as president of this organization in 1988 and 1989. He was also a regional Qualifier for the US Open in 1989 and 1990.
Tim lives in Granger with his wife Susan, the women’s golf coach at Notre Dame, and their children Justin (10) and Kristin (8).
Tips from Tim
- When hitting chip shots, don’t let the left hand break down and feel yourself getting wristy. Be sure to keep the hands ahead of the club through impact.
- Focus your efforts on swinging the club and let the ball get in the way. Never feel like you’re “hitting” the ball.
- Never let your body slide side to side when swinging the club. Feel like you’re inside a barrel and your hips must turn as you swing.
